And while Hollywood holds its breath, material that the comedian tested ahead of his much anticipated monologue has emerged - slamming Will Smith and Jada Pinket Smith - who have boycotted the show.
Indeed, despite the ongoing #OscarsSoWhite row, Rock attacked the couple for their stance at the Comedy Club late on Saturday, making a particularly lewd joke which he admitted he couldn't use at the 88th Academy Awards.
