Train Ghanaian Artisans - Veep Appeals To Automobile Companies

The Vice- President, Mr. Kwesi Amissah –Arthur has admonished Mechanical Lloyd Company Ltd, a leading automobile company in Ghana to organize training programmes for local artisans to enable them improve their services in vehicle maintenance.

According to him, the training of local artisans would help in the improvement of the economy and the wellbeing of the people.

The Vice President made the remark at the official opening of the Takoradi branch of Mechanical Lloyd Company Limited at a brief ceremony on Tuesday.

The inauguration of the branch brings to the number of such facilities owned by the company to five across. Two in Accra, one in Kumasi and the other in Tamale.

The automobile company currently holds franchises for BMW and Ford Vehicles as well as Massy Furguson Agricultural tractors and implements.

The Vice- President lauded the management of Mechanical Lloyd Company for its confidence in the economy which had found expressions in its preparedness to extend the services of the company to other parts of the country.

He urged the management of the company to ensure that clients derived the maximum value from its services and expressed the hope that the facility would improve the economy of the western region , since it would provide local content, as well as quality services.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur urged the company to use its vast experience in the industry to organize training for local artisans who are into vehicle maintenance to help improve automobile servicing.

The board chairman of Mechanical Lloyd , Mr. Charles Zwennes Snr, said the branch would provide consumers with the best of products and services. He revealed that the company had brought to Takoradi its full range of vehicle models for all individuals and corporate organisations and described the facility as a new state-of-the-art technology Centre for better service delivery.

For his part, the Regional Manager , Sales and Marketing of Ford Motor Company in charge of sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Rob Johnson, described Africa as a growing market with the potential to take over the rest of the world in terms of automobile market.

Mechanical Lloyd is a fully Ghanaian owned company established in August 1970 and listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange since 1994.
