Mahama's SoNA Bore Little Resemblance To Reality Today! - Nana Addo

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said, he was left in ‘shock’ at the comfort of his home when President John Dramani Mahama delivered his last State of the Nation Address last Thursday.

According to him, he much expected the president to touch on the difficulties and hardship his administration has left on Ghanaians – but the president veered from that, adding that the address offered no hope and "bore very little resemblance to the reality of today's Ghana".

When the president of the republic rose before parliament in fulfillment of his constitutional obligation, to deliver his message of the state last Thursday, I watched on television in the hope that he will capture the difficulties that face our people daily. I waited to hear him [President Mahama] address the crisis to offer a hope to ask all of us as Ghanaians to help resolve the crisis in which we find ourselves. Unfortunately millions of Ghanaians including my humble self waited in vain. President Mahama painted a picture that bore very little resemblance to the reality of today'’s Ghana,” he noted.

Nana Addo expressed his disappointment in President Mahama's uninspiring address when he delivered what his party considers “The Real State of The Nation”. It comes days after President John Mahama delivered his last state of the nation address in his First Term in Parliament.

He noted that though in his travel across the country, he has witnessed the poverty levels of some communities, he has also been buoyed by their persevarance.

"....in all my years of public life, i've never seen the levels of desperation that has become daily situation in the country today," he added.

Calling on President Mahama to admit that - “indeed Ghana is in Crisis during his tenure” the 2016 NPP Flagbearer questioned President Mahama’s achievements in a sardonical manner.

We have made cocoa farming attractive, the NHIS is flourishing, he [President Mahama] has overcome the energy crisis. Really?

Mr. President, are you living in the same Ghana as the rest of us?” drawing quite a prolonged laughter from the gathering at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons where the address is taking place.

Their's is a Ghana inhabited by the President and his family, friends and a select small group. Then there is a real Ghana inhabited by the remaining 27 million of us,” he added.
