Mahama Has Taken 4 Years To Commission Just 4 Out Of 200 Schools...But Were Still Waiting

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo wants to know when President John Dramni Mahama will complete and commission all 200 Senior High schools he pledged to construct.

He described as disappointing the president’s refusal to offer details on his promise even though he [President Mahama] has raise doubts about the NPP’s ability to make education free.

In his view, the President should have been bold to showcase pictorial evidence of the supposed 123 schools under construction aside the four completed ones, as often touted by government communicators.

It has taken him [President Mahama] four years to commission four schools. At this rate it appears we will have to wait a very long time for the 200 schools to materialize...And in the meantime, parents are having great difficulties in sending their children to secondary school because of their inability to pay the high fees involved,” he said during NPP’s version of current affairs dubbed ‘The Real State of The Nation" address.

The NPP leader also appeared not satisfied with government’s implementation of the ‘free SHS’ promise and how the current state of the school-feeding programme – “The original promise of the free SHS which was a subject of a lot with great funfair for secondary day schools has also not materialized

…As we speak government is paying only 114ghc out of the 403ghc of the children school fees. Is this the free SHS he [President] Mahama promised?” he asked, with the auditorium reverberating in a chorus of 'Nooooooo".

...Capitation grant is in arrears and even a mere chalk has become a scarce commodity in our public schools,” he lamented.
