Fulani Cows Chase DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sekyere Afram Plains in the Ashanti Region, Donkor Fuseini, has sustained injuries in his left leg after he was given a wild chase by rampaging cattle in the forest.

The over 1,000 cattle chased the DCE, who in a desperate attempt to save his life, stepped in hoe and sprained his left ankle in the process. The timely intervention of the joint military/police task forces who were at the scene proved crucial as they quickly picked the injured DCE from the path of the rampaging cattle, and rushed him to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

The Sekyere Afram Plains DCE suffered his ordeal after he led the joint military/police taskforce to flush out cattle that had invaded the area.

Scores of Fulani herdsmen have reportedly moved from Asante Akim Agogo also in the Ashanti Region with thousands of cattle to Sekyere Afram Plains in recent times, where the animals have destroyed several food crops in farms.

Mr. Donkor described the incidence as a scary one, stressing that it was God who intervened to save his life that day.

He said the situation was getting out of hands so it became necessary that he led the security personnel in the area to the farms to flush out the cattle from the farms “but I ended up being chased by the angry cattle.”

Mr. Donkor said he was standing closer to the joint military/police team when he was chased suddenly by the rampaging animals “so I was forced to race at top speed in an attempt to save my life which was in great danger and I sprained my left ankle.
