Mubarak Wakaso hit with fresh injury

The Ghana midfielder suffered yet another injury setback in Las Palmas win over Getafe.

Ghana and UD Las Palmas midfielder Mubarak Wakaso suffered another injury setback when his side defeated Gatefe 4-0 in La Liga on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old was pulled off after colliding with a player 15 minutes into the game and was replaced by Nabil El Zhar.

Although the extent of his injury is yet to be known, his coach Quique Setién has described the situation as a shame, noting that he hopes it is not serious as already feared.

“It is a shame [with regards to] Wakaso's injury. I hope it is not serious,” Setién said in a post-match interview.

Goal understands that Wakaso will undergo a scan on Thursday at the club's medical facility and will likely miss next weekend's La Liga game against Villarreal at the Camp El Madrigal.

However, should the injury turns out to be more severe, Wakaso will miss Ghana's game against Mozambique in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for March 22 in Accra.
