'Small Small' Video Costs A Fortune- Okyeame Kwame

Although he would not mention the amount, Okyeame Kwame has revealed the cost of making the Small Small music video was nothing short of a five-digit expenditure.
And for a man credited with many great music videos over the years, Small Small is surprisingly the music star’s all-time favourite, he admits.

Ironically, its title is in sharp contrast to the fortune spent in making the video. Nonetheless, the Rap Dacta would not dwell so much on the huge investment as that would take away the essence of the creativity.

“Yes, it cost a fortune but I don’t want to dwell too much on that. I am excited by the video. It can easily pass for my all-time favourite video,” disclosed Okyeame Kwame in an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz at last Thursday’s premiere of Small Small, which features MzVee, at Grand Papazz in Accra.

“This is a video I spent most of my energy on, with a 70-member cast and shooting for five days. You can tell that so much went into it.”

According to the Rap Dacta, the concept was a collective effort of himself, its director George Gyimah of Phamous Films and the arts director, Prince Hilton. “They brought out all the fine details and the end result is what we are seeing,” he added.

The premiere attracted scores of people in attendance, including Joy FM’s Lexis Bill, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), actor Ecow Smith-Asante and a host of others.

The video tells the story of two people in love and takes the viewer through the various stages of their relationship till they eventually get married amidst pomp and pageantry.

The pictures are sharp and the transitions are very smooth, making the video a delight to watch.

In one interesting scene, Okyeame Kwame and MzVee are watching a movie; she wipes her lipstick with a tissue paper and gives it to him. Okyeame Kwame keeps the tissue for so many years and shows it to her later in their journey through life much to her surprise.

The wedding scene was also spectacular as the couple and guests looked gorgeous. The older folks also treat viewers to some beautiful dance steps which is exciting.

It comes as little surprise that Okyeame Kwame rates Small Small as his favourite video, perhaps it is because his two children -- Sir Botha and daughter Shanti-- starred in it alongside Ecow Smith-Asante.

A visibly excited Okyeame Kwame expressed his gratitude to all who made it to the premiere and hinted that the video will be out tomorrow, March 1.
