Bola Ray And Friends Annual Fun Day And Donations Event

SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is glad to have hosted its renowned Brand Ambassador, Mr. Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye -Adisi (Bola Ray) and his Empire Entertainment Company, for this year’s Annual Fun Day and Donations Event.

This happens to be the sixth edition of the Brand Ambassador’s specially organized yearly event for children of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana, which precisely takes place at our Tema SOS Children’s Village Programme location.

The day’s event was initiated and sponsored by Bola Ray as part of inspiring hope and helping sustain the quality life for all SOS Children in Ghana.

During such annual events, our Brand Ambassador celebrates his birthday with all our children at the SOS Children’s Village Tema location, where he engages them in fun games and activities. The event is also spiced with performances by several artists in the entertainment industry.

This year, our Brand Ambassador has taken his relationship with us to a higher level, by opening up his outfit to bond with the children. This was done by means of our ‘Adopt a House’ sponsorship scheme.

The ‘Adopt a House’ sponsorship provides an opportunity for corporate organisations, religious groups as well as individuals to partner with SOS Children’s Villages Ghana for the continuous provision and sustainability of quality education and good healthcare for children under our care.

We therefore invite all benevolent individuals and organisations to subscribe to any of our other ‘support options’ made available for the continuous support of vulnerable children.

There are a total of 632 children in 51 family houses and 5 youth facilities in our four locations (Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi and Tamale) currently receiving quality care.

Our mission is to build families for children in need, help them, shape their own future and share in the development of their communities.

Our vision is to ensure that ‘every child belongs to a family and grows up with love, respect and security.

It doesn’t require much to put a smile on a child’s face today. By donating as little as GH₵ 20, you will also be contributing to enabling a less privileged child live in a caring home today.

Background on SOS Children’s Villages Ghana

SOS Children Villages Ghana is a social development organisation with strong emphasis on child welfare. For the past four decades, our organisation has committed itself to working in the interest of vulnerable children, by providing them with support in the areas of basic care, education, good nutrition, shelter, healthcare, strengthening of their families, and advocating their human rights.

In pursuit of these principles, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana runs two major programmes, namely;

Ø  Family Based Care

Ø  Family Strengthening Programme

Under our Family Based Care (FBC) programme, we provide a supportive and loving family for children who have lost parental care due to several reasons. Location areas include Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi and Tamale, with a total of 632 children and youth.

These children live in a unique ‘family houses’ as brothers and sisters; so they can grow in a family atmosphere filled with love, security and comfort. The name given to the location points of these family houses is SOS Children’s Villages.

Under the Family Strengthening Programme, our community intervention schemes are geared towards vulnerable families with children who stand the risk of losing parental care. By partnering with Community Based Organisations, Traditional Leaders and other stakeholders, we seek to provide vulnerable families with needed support by way of economic empowerment and skills acquisition. This is to strengthen the capacities of youth and caregivers, in providing for the basic needs of their children. We do this with the belief system that a ‘family’ is the basic unit of society.

As at December last year, we have worked with 1,230 families in 18 communities, supported 5000 children and graduated 1,102 youth through our Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) scheme.
