Stop Magic Shows...Bishop Tackie Yarboi Tells Obinim

The city of Accra has for some weeks become a receptacle of Bishop Daniel Obinim’s mastery of magic and miracles to the extent of claiming to transform into any creature of choice. A lot of noise and comments have been passed about Bishop Obinim’s bluff.

The founder of International God’s Way Church once said he could transmogrify into a snake, visit and bite people in their dreams. This caught the attention of a large section of Ghanaians.

The presiding Bishop of Victory Bible Church International (VBCI) Bishop N.A Tackie Yarboi has broken his silence and has told this paper what he thinks Ghanaians should hear. He said there is no where in the Bible that suggests that Jesus transformed into any creature.

He said people have misconstrued the Bible verse John 3:14 to mean Jesus was or could turn into a snake. “Anyone who says Jesus is a snake has committed a great sin”.

“Then why not become Satan? He challenged Bishop Obinim. He added that what did not sit well with him about Obinim was he saying that he would lock the church; is he the devil? Quoting scripture, Bishop Yarboi said “Jesus said I will build my church and the gates of hell cannot stop it. Obinim is just bluffing”.

Bishop Yarboi wondered why some prophets in Ghana lately had managed to skew the scripture to suit their personal and somewhat ungodly and unbiblical agenda. “When some hardworking men of God are gathering the flock like Jesus said, some of them also go about speaking nonsense and scattering the work”, he observed.

About the exchange between bishop Obinim and Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, Bishop Tackie said there was no insult meant when Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah said Obinim was ignorant. It was only a matter of understanding but the latter took it in as an insult and has subsequently acted in a manner quite despicable.

Asked whether Obinim could be sanctioned, Bishop Tackie said “the Pentecostal Council cannot sanction him because the law has not given such powers to the council; in Ghana, there is freedom of association and worship so if somebody gathers people, they are free to do so”.

The only instance the law could have bared its teeth at him was when he stepped on a lady’s tommy in the name of performing miracles. The Ministry of Women and children’s affairs, social welfare and the relevant agencies could have taken it up but they failed to.
