The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and the party have been advised by the former Ejisu-Juaben MCE, Yamoah Ponkoh to carry their next disgraceful and reckless behaviour to the Akyemland and not to the Ashantis again.

According to him, the NPP cannot always use the Ashantis to fight the battle for Nana Akufo-Addo who is not an Ashanti; painting the Ashantis as people who are known for insolence before President Mahama.

“Nana Akufo-Addo is not an Ashanti; he is an Akyem and you [Wontumi] in Ashantiland would organise people to hoot at President Mahama to affect the Ashanti King, Otumfuo...Wontumi is being used by Akufo-Addo to cause this embarrassing situation here in Ashanti Kingdom to Akufo-Addo’s advantage,” he indicated.

Fuming on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Yamoah Ponkoh indicated that he would not feel any pain if the dastardly act of hooting at President Mahama had happened in Akyem-Abuakwa where Akufo-Addo comes from and not in Kumasi to discredit Otumfuo.

“If this shameful action had happened in Abuakwa, I would not feel any pain but in Kumasi it hurts me; what is wrong with some of the Ashantis? Don’t forget that Abuakwa is different from Kumasi; there is a difference between the Akyems and the Ashantis. It should not have happened in Otumfuo’s presence, its a useless and disgusting behaviour,” he fumed.

He was of the view that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako and his Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo want to push negative thought in the mind of the President that the Ashantis are against him.

“Whether you like it or not, we have Akyems and Ashantis and they all come from different places. If they want to do something bad to depict bad image to the President then not in Ashanti Kingdom because of Akufo-Addo,” he jabbed.

He insisted saying “I know what I am talking about; Ashantis are not known for recklessness and radicalism. How can you organise such a thing here? Anytime the NPP want to do something bad, they use the Ashanti Region...next time, they should organise it at Akyem-Abuakwa; it should be in Kibi and not in Kumasi. Ashantis are not known for discrimination and recklessness; the NPP should organise their hooting in Kibi.”
