We Only Capitalized On Bawumias Presence To Share Gari NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vehemently rejected claims that the Party attempted sabotaging an interaction between NPP Running Mate, Mahamudu Bawumia and students of the Dambai College of Education, insisting that the Party only capitalised on the presence of the NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate to distribute free Gari and Sugar to the students, as a token of goodwill.

NDC Youth Organizer of the Krachi East Constituency, Adam Soko, gave this explanation in an interview with local radio station Adom on Tuesday.

Speaking on the NDC’s decision to distribute Gari to students of the Dambai College of Education to coincide with the visit of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Adam Soko, described suggestions that the Gari was shared to divert the attention and presence of the students from the Bawumia programme.

“This is just a diversionary tactic from the NPP. They don’t have anything doing. I had some gifts for the students of the College, not only the TEIN (NDC) members but all students of the College in the form of Gari and sugar and so I discussed with the Patrons in the school and they suggested that because we cannot disrupt the Academic activities of the students, we can only distribute the Gari and Sugar in their free time. They therefore suggested that since Bawumia was coming, we should take advantage of that period to share our Gari and we perfectly agreed with them.’

The NDC Youth Organizer described the Gari and Sugar as harmless gifts which should not be politicized.

“We therefore agreed that we will announce to the students during lunch that our youth wing had something for them, which we did. But the NPP was also having their programme outside the Campus so some came, took and even went to the NPP programme. This was a harmless gift and we didn’t discriminate between who to receive it”, he said.
