Parliament Pays Tribute To J.B. Danquah

Parliament has paid glowing tribute to the memory of the late MP for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye-Danquah-Adu, describing him as a selfless politician and democrat, gem, gentleman, statesman and true patriot.

They said thoughts of him would forever linger in their minds, adding that he would be missed dearly.

The Majority Leader, Mr Alban Bagbin, who set the tone for the tribute, said the slain MP was a distinguished statesman who was concerned about nation building and did not consider politics as a matter of "life or death."

He also described the late Danquah-Adu as an agent of positive change and one who had an unwavering commitment to private sector growth and development.

Minority Leader

The Minority Leader, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said Mr Danquah-Adu was a great but simple man who lived a "humble and down-to-earth life."

"The nation has lost a gem, patriot, philanthropist and statesman," he emphasised, adding that their departed colleague was a model parliamentarian.

Eulogising his friend, the MP for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, whose constituency shares a boundary with that of the late MP, noted that death had robbed him of his political twin.
