The PNC has received news of the passing of the former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party with a great deal of shock. Indeed, the entire country has lost a great statesman.
We want to express our sincere condolences, to the family, the New Patriotic Party and all Ghanaians for this loss. We pray that, his gentle soul finds peace in the bosom of Almighty Allah.
As we may well know, the contributions of Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey to the deepening of our fourth republican democracy cannot be understated. Many times we fought together, in our collective desire to make our democracy better and stronger. And therefore, this tragedy has also dealt a big blow to the country’s efforts at consolidating democracy.
We also wish to use this occasion to urge all Ghanaians that, even in our mourning, let us be inspired by the works and contributions of this statesman and compatriot to continue the struggle for the consolidation of our democracy, peace and stability especially in this election year. It is the greatest honor we could ever do to his memory.
Once again, may Allah (SWT) grant him eternal mercies.
