Sellas Happy To Challenge For Title

Sellas Tetteh, coach of Ghanas Under-20s says he has a team capable of challenging for the title at the World Youth Championship which begins Thursday in Egypt. The Black Satellites who having been wrapping up the second leg of their preparations in Tunisia, after a similar exercise in Qatar will open their Group D account against Asian qualifiers Uzbekistan on Saturday, September 26 in Ismailia. For Sellas Tetteh, this years competition presents an opportunity for a bunch of players capable of achieving a double after winning the African competition earlier this year as Ghanas team arrived Wednesday in Ismailia, their camp base for the start of the Championships. It means a lot for us to be representing Ghana at this competition which is an important part of the development of their players and our game. Its always been a difficult competition and at this level you would always have to expect tough opponents right from the first game till the last match. But the team has been preparing well and all the players we named have quality to help us achieve our target, Tetteh told www.ghanafa.org before boarding the teams flight from Tunis to Egypt. Ghana is seeking to lay claim to their first title at this level after twice finishing as runners up but will enter the competition as African Champions having claimed continental glory early this year. But Sellas is keeping that feat in the background as he focuses on the challenges ahead. We have to put in a greater commitment than we showed in Rwanda. This team has enough talent and quality but this is another challenge that we would have to deal with. The approach then was good but we have to show same and be more confident and clinical in front of goal. Over the past months, the players have all developed well and gained more experience, he said. The full complement of the team would be realized in Ismailia where captain Andre Ayew, Samuel Inkoom and David Addy will join up. Ghana are in Group D alongside, England, Uzbekistan and Uruguay. After the opening group game with Uzbekistan, England will be Ghanas second game opponents on September 29 with the final group game against Uruguay on October 2.
