NDC Intensifies Campaign In Volta Region

Ahead of the November 7 General elections, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified its campaign in the Volta region, a region politically refers to as the ‘World Bank’ of the NDC.

The governing party has lined up various programmes aimed at showcasing the achievements of President John Dramani Mahama led administration. The youth wing of the NDC in the Volta Region led by Mr Egypt Kobla Kudoto in collaboration with TEIN group, last Friday began series of programmes at various institutions including the venue where the running mate of NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia held his last week.

Though the NPP running mate could not pull a sizable number of people at the same venue, the NDC had massive attendance with speakers including the National Organizer, Mr Kofi Adams, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Fafa Adinyirah, District Chief Executive for Afadjato South District, Angela Alorwu Tay, DCE for Jasikan, Kilian Abrampah and others to address the gatherings.

Mr Kofi Adams, the National Organizer urged residents of the Volta Region not to be lured by ‘sweet talks’ of the NPP through its running mate. According to him, the destiny of the nation cannot be toyed with and that any attempt by the youth to put the destiny of this nation into the hands of Nana Akufo-Addo would amount to jeopardizing the future of the next generations.

Mr Kofi Adams who indicated that the NPP that has no clear cut messages, said the NPP has embarked upon campaign of lies and vilifications. He cited the claim of the NPP to restore the teacher training allowances. He said it was an attempt to throw dust into the eyes of the citizenry. ‘How can you say that? These teacher training colleges are now tertiary institutions and no tertiary student receives allowances, instead they access loans,” he said.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo is not competent enough to lead this nation and cited how he allegedly failed as Minister of Justice and Attorney General and that of Foreign Affairs.

“As Attorney General, he preferred charges against Tsatsu Tsikata in the name of President instead of the state. Again, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, drug barons were issued with diplomatic passports and so, how can you trust such a person? I want to urge you to be aware of these developments. Don’t trust him with the destiny of Ghana,” he stressed.

The national organizer explained to the gathering the need to retain President Mahama and for that matter the NDC to continue with its developmental achievements.

He averred that the NDC would retire the flagbearer of the NPP from active politics after this year’s election. Mr Egypt Kudoto, who led the discussions on the achievements of the NDC government and projected them, dismissed reports that NPP, has gathered huge success in the region was untrue.
He said the NPP should continue deceiving themselves. “Mr Sammy Awuku can be deceiving everybody on radio but we are not perturbed at all,” he told this reporter.

Mr Kudoto said the party in the region is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the increase the votes in the November 7, elections.
