PFAG launch insurance scheme for Ghanaian players

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) on Monday launched the retired football fund and insurance scheme at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
 
The event was graced by several football personalities in the country including ex-Footballers Tony Baffoe who is the secretary of the PFAG, Sammy Osei Kuffour, Yaw Preko among others.

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan together with his colleagues and some Premier League players also graced the occasion.

The initiative is to ensure that players in the domestic top-flight get the needed indemnity to enjoy the game.

The Policy according to the FIFA General Coordinator and Secretary of PFAG (Tony Baffoe) will cover 30 players in each of the 16 Premier League Clubs.

This is to ensure develop the game and reduce the mass player exodus in the local League.

Footballers in the country for years have enjoyed the game without any insurance policy which could help them hang on incase of any unforeseen circumstances.

This is also expected to extend to the lower Leagues in the subsequent years. The 2015/16 Ghana Premier league kicks starts on Saturday February 20.

The initiative which is to ensure the betterment of Ghanaian players will officially take effect next month.
