The Shanghai SIPG striker claims the local league boasts of some improvement after watching the Phobians in action last weekend.

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan admits that the standard of Ghana Premier League has improved, with the new season just in the fifth round.

The 30-year-old striker, who is in town ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, watched the game between Hearts of Oak and Inter Allies at the Tema Sports Stadium last weekend and couldn't hide his excitement.

“Since I arrived in Ghana, I can see the excitement with regards to the premier league,” Gyan told Hot FM.  

“There are improvements in the league and these are what I have been wishing for all this while,” he added.

Gyan also showered praise on Hearts youngster Ibrahim Musa, who came on as a second-half substitute, scoring two goals to help the Phobians snatch a 3-2 win over Allies.

“I will commend Ibrahim Musah for fetching two goals against Inter Allies. His goals decided the result of the game. He must keep it up,” Gyan said. “This will surely have to boost his confidence and morale for him to score more in the league,” he added.

Gyan previously played for Liberty Professionals before leaving the shores of the country in 2003 to join Udinese in Italy.

 
He will lead Ghana against Mozambique this week in the Afcon Group H qualifiers.
