Thieves Storm Churches, Steal Musical Instruments

Musical equipment belonging to five different churches at Awutu Senya West have been stolen within the last one week.

The affected churches are the Budumburam Roman Catholic Church, Church of Pentecost, Akramang branch, Awutu Breku Presbyterian Church, Awutu Breku Exposition Assemblies of God, and Awutu Breku Church of Pentecost, Emmanuel Assembly,

District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Pastor Osei Agyeman told Adom News a similar thing happened last year Easter and therefore believes that the thieves do so only when occasions are approaching.

He said the unfortunate incident comes in the wake of a string of thefts of mainly musical instruments in the last couple of months by the “daredevils” who are not scared by the awesome invisible presence of the “Holy One” and break in to steal.

He said sometimes as a result of that the churches are unable to hold services “in a smooth way” adding that thieves have made the stealing of churches' electronic gadgets their business in the district.

The Pastor at Assembly of God church whose church was also affected said the thieves stole the church’s communion set.

The 'clever thieves' as he described them, have timed their activities and strike at the time that the church had closed.

The pastors say they have reported the incident to the police because the stealing by the thieves has become rampant in the region.
