Nana Addo Should Fear Those Around Him; Not NDC Sam George

There is a saying in Akan; a Ghanaian language that ‘Abua bi b3 ka wua, efri wo tuma mu’ to wit; it is the insect in your cloth that can bite you’

This seems to be what Sam George, a Presidential staffer at the flagstaff House is telling the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo.

According to Sam George, if anybody would want to harm Nana Addo, it will be those in the NPP and not the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“The Mahama administration has absolutely no desire in the demise of Mr William Akufo Addo….if he (Akufo Addo) is worried about his security, he should be checking and looking within his party rather; and not in the direction of the NDC. The NDC is not interested in any way or means with the demise or they hold no ill will towards him. The only thinking we have towards Mr William Akufo Addo is to beat him and beat him resoundingly that he will go into retirement. That is the only thought we have as a party; as a government …” he said.

Sam George’s comment follows the brouhaha surrounding the 3 South African security experts who were arrested on suspicion of engaging in “acts that threaten the country’s security.”

According to the NPP, the 3 South African security experts were in the country to provide training for the security detail of the NPP presidential and vice presidential candidates.

A portion of a statement signed by Nana Akomea, NPP Director of Communications said: "in an age where a radio programme host by name ‘Mugabe’, on Montie FM, a radio station belonging to the stable of the ruling party, has stated that Nana Akufo-Addo will die before June this year, we, in the NPP, will not take any chances, whatsoever, with the security of our leaders".

But contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Sam George said: “Nana must fear nothing from the NDC; if he has anything to fear, he must fear those who orchestrated the acid bath of Chairman Adams…he must fear those who staged the palace coup against a lawfully elected Chairman and General Secretary…the NPP sees that they are failing…when the NPP flagbearer is surrounded by men of questionable character; when the NPP flagbearer has his advisors as men who have been engaged in heinous crimes to petty thievery as his chief advisors….why won’t he have a problem?"
