Muntari out of action for two weeks

The Tigers of Asia midfielder has been ruled out of action for at least two weeks after picking a foot injury.

Al Ittihad Jeddah manager Victor Pițurca will be without Ghana midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari for at least two weeks following an injury he sustained in their 2-1 home defeat to Al Nasr in the Asian Champions League.

Muntari, 31, who has become one of the standout performers of Ittihad was replaced by Jamal Ba Jandooh after 56 minutes, subsequently missing his side’s friendly against Bani Yas in Abu Dhabi during the weekend.

“Muntari is currently in Milan to see an expert on his injury,” a source told Goal.

“It initially didn't look serious but the club doesn't want to take any chances hence the decision to allow him to travel.

“He will also use the opportunity to spend time with his family in Milan since the wife gave birth not too long ago. It's important to be with her and the newborn, but he's expected back very soon to start his recovery training,” the source added.

Muntari has played 22 competitive games for Ittihad this season, scoring three goals.
