NDC Cronies Squandered Nearly GHC 3bn Of Project Funds & Want Me Out! Under fire DCE

District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atebubu- Amantin in the Brong Ahafo Region, Sampson Owusu Boateng has clearly stated that he would remain the DCE for the area until President Mahama who appointed him serves him a letter to leave it.

Speaking to Nana Yaw Kesse on Peace FM’s ‘kokrokoo’ programme, the DCE said he will not leave his post due to the various allegations leveled against him by some executives of the party, just because he did not award them contracts which would fetch them income but by not embarking on the project the money was intended for.

“President Mahama would be at fault if he should appoint me as DCE for the past two years in the Atebubu-Amantin District on behalf of the NDC party when I am a member of the NPP,” he said.

He said problems were in the constituency before he was appointed, even when the then DCE together with some key party executives always spent money given to the constituency for developmental projects which has left the area underdeveloped till date.

According to him, two contracts for the contruction of 6units classroom blocks awarded to party cronies, a couple of years ago, have been abandoned, eventhough the contractors (NDC activists), have squandered 70% of funds meant for the project.

"...nearly GHC 300,000 meant for the project has been squandered by these NDC members, yet nothing has been done...they've misused the project funds....they simply want me to dole out monies to them; but as long as i remain the DCE, it will never happen...my desire is to ensure that the district sees development," he stated.

He added that “my trend of fixing problems especially in monetary terms in the constituency have resulted to a disagreement among some party executives, because they no longer benefit in my term of office from the Common Fund which should be used for developmental projects.”

However, the NDC Constituency Secretary for the area, Ali Saga Sulley in an interview on the same platform described the DCE as a mole in the party.

According to him supporters of the party realized that the way the DCE is handling the party in the constituency is more or less creating confusion just to the advantage of the NPP.

“Since Sampson Owusu Boateng assumed office as DCE I have not worked with him as the Constituency Secretary for about three months now because his approach of handling issues are not in line with the party rules, all activities done are in favor of the NPP,” he accused him.

A simmering tension between the District Chief Executive of Atebubu-Amatin, Sampson Owusu Boateng and the Member of Parliament for the area, Sanja Nanja metamorphosed into open violence on Tuesday, forcing the state to deploy both police and military personnel to ensure law and order in the town after the NDC office was set ablaze by members of the party.
