Osu stands to gain a lot from Globacom � Country Director

Mr Derek Obuobi, Country Representative of Global Communications (Globacom), a mobile telephone company, has assured the people of Osu that they would benefit from the company when its fibre base is completed in Osu. He said already 18 Ghanaians had been sent to Nigeria for training including Osu citizens. Mr Obuobi said this at a forum organized by the Osu Youth Empowerment Group in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashietey. The forum was to brief the elders and the people of Osu Alata, where the Globacom is going to put up its base, on the benefits they are to derive from the company. Mr Obuobi said the company would generate employment and appealed to the people to take education seriously so that they could fit into the fast growing technology system. Nii Djanhene, who represented the Osu chief, asked management of Globacom to be transparent in all their dealings with the elders and the people of Osu so that there would cordial relationship. He said the Osu Maternity Home was too small to cater for the people and pleaded with the company to expand it. Nii Djanhene also appealed to the company to award scholarships for pupils would be first and second in their classes.
