Still The Head Is Used For Carrying Load - Prof Quarm Insists

The heavily-criticised primary one natural science textbook, which claims the human head is used for “carrying load” still stands according to its publisher.

Mr Joseph Albert Quarm whose ‘Professor’ tittle is just an epithet by friends told NEAT FM morning show host, Kwesi Aboagye that his description of the function of the head in the book is cognizant by the level of understanding of class one pupils.

According to him, it was imperative to use the description because – “children learn fast in visual message” – therefore his illustration is acceptable in our society.

In an interview with Neat FM’s 'Ghana Montie' ‘Prof’ Quarm explained that children grow to have more knowledge on the use of head – however, he claimed it is prudent to begin with them in a meaningful way that the head is used for “carrying load”.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Education has announced that ‘Prof Quarm’ book is not approved to be used by primary one pupils.

A statement issued Monday afternoon read: “It must be noted that the book in question is not an approved textbook for schools under the Ghana Education Service," and advised heads of schools and parents against patronising the said book authored by Prof. Joseph Albert Quarm.
