Hohoe Police Retrieve Stolen ECG Motorbikes

The Police in Hohoe have retrieved three out of four motorbikes stolen from the Hohoe District Office of the Electricity Company of Ghana, on Tuesday.

The robbers allegedly broke through the back fence of the Office and made away with the motorbikes at dawn, a press release signed by Fred Baimbill-Johnson, the Regional Public Relations Officer of ECG, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said.

The statement said Mr Francis Asamoah, the Security Officer at the Office, took cover upon hearing unusual noise on the compound and observed the movement of three men who took the motorbikes out of the yard.

Mr Asamoah reportedly said, “One was wielding a gun so I kept a safe distance and observed what was going on and called the Police Patrol team immediately they left.”

It said Mr Asamoah and the Police later tracked the three motorbikes to a house near the ECG Office and retrieved them.

Mr Joseph Forson, the Regional General Manager of ECG, commended the swift response of the Police and appealed to the public to volunteer information on theft of ECG property to law enforcement agencies for prosecution

The statement said the Police would continue with investigations to retrieve the remaining motorbike and arrest the thieves.
