The Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre, has held its 13th Congregation and 21st Matriculation at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Delivering the keynote address at the ceremony, the Acting vice Chancellor, Dr. Anthony k. Bonnah Koomson, noted 448 students graduated this year. According to him, the current student environment stands at 2,965 a drop of 544 from the 3,409 recorded last year October.

He has called for comprehensive report of the causes leading to the low students in the University. The College has however rolled out a total of 5,567 graduates since its inception.

Dr.Koomson, observed the university has adequately prepared those making their academic exit to easily strides into the world.

He instilled in the Matriculates to be obedient as they have signed solemn undertaking for both the academic and non- academic staff of the university college and that the university would hold them strictly compliance of the pledge.

The vice chancellor charged the students to be more focus and avoid disparaging remarks which could put off the goodwill of the university.
He enumerated challenges confronting the college including financial challenges and financial prudence an urged the college to spend in the interest of the school.

Meanwhile, the Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani and Episcopal Chairman of Catholic University College, said the Catholic Church, saw education as a tool for advancing and enhancing knowledge in any society, hence the catholic university is developing capacities for social development.

He called on other universities to introduce students to cultural heritage by former generations, adding that the vision of the Catholic University College, is to create unique university college which could bring distinctive contribution to national development.

Most Rev.Matthew Gyamfi, urged the graduates to stay away from people who belittle their intelligence and potentials but they should try to upgrade them when they choose to stay with them.

He urged the Matriculates to learn from the professors to gain their stall of experience and avoid just been a fancy academics and make value of their academics.

He called them to spend time on what will stimulate their minds for critical thinking, good character formation, and the ability to read through and be critical of whatever transpire before them.

He urged the parents who have saved their Cedis to support their wards in the university to enable their wards to make them proud.
