It was all joy and fun when hundreds of Adehye, i.e. Past Students of Okuapemman School, Akropong –Akuapem in the Eastern Region, gathered for a walk on Saturday the 16th of April, 2016 in Accra.

The Walk is one of several activities lined up for the School’s 60th Anniversary celebration, which comes off at the School in February 2017. The Health Walk was organized by the 1987 Year Group, which is the Prime Sponsor of the Anniversary.

Apart from members of the 1987 Year Group, several members of the other year groups were present for the walk. Notable among these groups was the oldest past students group, the Adehye Class of 1970.

The organizers of the Walk said the exercise was meant to strengthen the year groups and bring more past students of the school together to contribute in diverse ways to their alma mater. The walk was also to promote networking among past students and friends of Adehye.

The walk started from Poki House in the Airport Residential Area at 0600hrs and ended at about 0900hrs.

Participants in the walk which attracted some teachers of the school who are also past students, walked from Poki House to the Airport Junction and turned right to the 37 Military Hospital through the  Olusegun Obasanjo Highway to the Gold House intersection and back to Poki House.

All participating Adehye were treated to sumptuous meals and natural fruit juices and drinks after the walk. Many danced to a variety of music, most reminiscent of their days in school.

The National President of Okuapemman School’s Past Students Association Odehye Nana Yaw Dekyem Attafuah in a short address after the walk said the activity gave the Past Students the opportunity to come together and get in touch with colleagues whom they have not met for a very long time.

The MC for the occasion was Odehye Kwami Sefa Kayi the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the 60th Anniversary and host of Peace FM’s flagship program ‘Kokrokoo. He briefed the past students about other forthcoming activities towards the Anniversary.
