Three Wee Camps Swooped

Residents of Lamashegu a suburb of Tamale metropolis in the Northern Region have raided a wee ghetto in the area that houses notorious criminals who terrorize innocent people in the community. 

Some persons spoke to peacefmonline,  most especially women indicated that the swoop should have taken place a long time ago because they never had rest in the community because of the criminal activities of the wee smokers in the area.

When this paper visited the base under investigation a day before the raid revealed that, most often around 5:30pm the base looks like a market because of the number of persons who come there for their usual purchase of wee and other hard drugs.

It was also revealed that some particular rooms at the ghetto were rented by some ladies who engage in prostitution at the place.

Drama unfolded at the Chief palace when the suspects who were arrested by the youth escaped due to the long crowed gathered at the palace.

During the raid the youth found five mini bags containing substance suspected to be India herm, alcoholic beverages, two bicycles and four unregistered motorbikes.

The Chief of the Lamashegu area Alhaji Ziblim Abdulai told peace news that ‘we could not take it anymore because the criminal in the community have disturbed us for far too long and it was time we do something about it so i organized the youth in the area to go and arrest them’.

According to him, the police should arrest anybody who is found guilty of the situation and make sure the law deals with them severely to serve as deterrence to others.

He assured the police of his support anytime they need him or anybody from his place to make sure peace prevail in the community and commended the youth in the area for their brave attitude they demonstrated.

Speaking to Akyereba kwabena of peace news , the Tamale metro police commander Chief Superintendent Lavoe Wisdom commended the Chief of Lamashegu and his people for the initiative they undertook urging other communities to emulate their example.

He indicated that crime combat is a share responsibility between the police and the communities, adding that the police cannot achieve their aim without the involvement or support from the communities.

Superintendent Lavoe Wisdom said the police have taken over to case and will investigate the matter properly and anybody found to have any involvement in the crime will be put before court.

He stated that the house that the criminal use to perpetrate their activities will be monitored constantly by the day and night patrol by the police service.
