Lets Mentor The Youth - Prof Ellis

Professor William Otoo Ellis, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has called on the successful in society to help shape the mind-set of the youth. He said people who had made it in their fields of endeavour should serve as role models and trusted advisers to the young people and to share with them their experiences. This, he said, could be an effective tool to motivate the youth to be serious with their studies and in whatever they did. Prof Ellis made the call when he took his turn to mentor final year students of the Publishing Studies Department of the University on Monday. He drew attention to the need for self-discipline and determination, saying, without these they could hardly make positive contribution to national development. Prof. Ellis urged the students to see challenges in life as motivators in disguise, pointing out that, Success is never achieved without being faced with challenges. Mr Ralph Nyadu-Addo, coordinator of the programme, said it aims at creating a platform for interaction between students, the academia and industry on what went on at various work places and share ideas on issues bothering them. He advised the students to concentrate not only on their courses of study but read wide to broaden their knowledge.
