Former Sissala MP Assaults Land Developer

A former Peoples National Convention (PNC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West Hon. Haruna Bayirga in the company of a certain Alhaji yesterday ‘descended’ on a poor developer on a piece of land at Kwabenya in Accra.

A little background to the reason for the attack on the developer called Freddie Amoa revealed that the latter is a Ghanaian who lived in Europe for some years and is back to settle at home.

So Mr. Amoa had bought the parcel of land long time ago and had been working steadily on it until some time back when the former MP surfaced at the site with the claim that the land in question belongs to him also.

According to Mr. Amoa’s personal aide who was present at the time of the attack and narrated the story to this reporter said, there has been some random attacks of such nature by the former MP anytime they start work at the site.

He said, Mr. Amoa has reported this incident to the Property Fraud Unit of the Police Headquarters and both parties were supposed to meet Inspector Nyarko Abronomaa who is in charge of the matter last week but the former MP said he doesn’t deal with Inspectors but the IGP himself.

The aide of Mr. Amoa who gave his name as Michael narrated that the former MP and his man came and started beating Mr. Amoa up whilst asking him to stop developing the parcel of land because he (MP)owns that land.

Again, he stated that Hon. Haruna was brandishing a court document which he claims it’s an injunction on the land but the document doesn’t even specify the particular land in question.

Michael ceased the opportunity to ask for police intervention in matter to ensure law and order “because the fact that one is a former MP doesn’t mean he can bully people around”.
