Why I Resigned From Presby Church

The immediate Past Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Very Rev Yaw Frimpong-Manso has explained why he decided to resign from the church citing unfair treatment as one of the reasons.

At a press conference in Accra on Monday, Rev Frimpong-Manso said the church in Ghana did not deal with him fairly hence his decision.

He denied allegations that he had blessed a gay marriage at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Reformed Church of the Presbytery of New York in the United States of America where he was currently serving.

At the end of his tenure as the Moderator of the church in Ghana, Very Rev. Frimpong-Manso was seconded by the church to serve with the Emmanuel Presbytery in New York.

In a letter dated July 10, 2015, Very Rev. Frimpong-Manso wrote to inform the church that the Emmanuel Presbytery had extended his status as a designated pastor for six years, which had been approved by the City of New York Presbytery with retrospective effect from April 1, 2015.

The General Assembly Council in Ghana was unable to accept his position and asked him to return to Ghana by December 31, 2015 for re-assignment in accordance with the ordinary and normal schedules of the church.

However, by a letter dated October 15, 2015, Very Rev. Frimpong-Manso notified the General Assembly Council (GAC) of his decision to resign from the service of the church.
