It is conventional in the Ghanaian setting to see politicians engage in uncompromising arguments on TV, it is almost normal to witness members of political parties� trade insinuations on air and it is entertaining to see opposing sportsmen psyche themselves with confrontations before and after sports activities � but it�s so rare, incomprehensible and confusing to witness two perceived men of God, leaders of large congregations engaging in war of words on TV.
What many considered a rumour was confirmed with no shred of doubt when two �strong�, highly-respected Prophets, Prophet Obinim and Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwah Yiadom decided to use their religious broadcast on television to settle their differences.
The two prophets broadcast on Saturday mornings on Metro TV with Prophet Obinim coming on at 10am followed by Prophet Yiadom at 10:30am and last Saturday, the two anointed men of God, especially Prophet Yiadom used almost half of his airtime to call out Prophet Obinim.
Prophet Yiadom with the help of his deacons did not mince words as they tried to settle scores and address the feud. They alleged that Prophet Obinim has been claiming that he owns a larger church between the two of them, performs the most incredible miracles and they also unraveled some of the plots of Prophet Obinim to undermine Prophet Yiadom and his ministry.
�Obinim, you are young when it comes to Ministry, I started ministering when you were seven years old and so you better take your time,� he addressed.
Prophet Yiadom read out to his congregation disturbing text messages allegedly sent to him from the camp of Prophet Obinim and he also had words for radio presenter Delay Frimpong-Manso of Oman FM.
According to the prophet, Delay has been playing a voice recording and attributing the voice to him - something he vehemently denied.
�I have been speaking on various platforms and on TV and Delay is saying she doesn�t know how I sound? Woe unto those who try to be impediments in the works of the man of God,� he warned.
One of the deacons accepted responsibility for the voice recording and said to the congregation, �If it were not by the intervention of Prophet Yiadom, I would have said worse things.�
The shocking spectacle came up when Prophet Yiadom spoke to a former fetish priest, who revealed on TV that, he was approached by Prophet Obinim and his people to devise a plan to discredit Prophet Yiadom.
According to the man, Prophet Obinim agreed to pay him if only he could come to his church and claim that Prophet Yiadom could not destroy his gods and he (Obinim), has been able to destroy them.
The man claimed that, Prophet Obinim gave him GHC5 as transport fee and asked him to go bring the gods but there were no gods so he quickly used a broken bottle and tied it with a red cloth to make it look like some deity.
�I made it look so perfect if you are not directed by the true spirit of God, you would not know it is fake, yet, Obinim took the bottle and was running through his congregation amidst cheers that he has destroyed the gods,� the man said.
The broadcast was becoming quite unpleasant and it came as no surprise when the broadcast was cut abruptly and when it came back on, Prophet Yiadom was seen doing his usual miracles.
For his final words, Prophet Yiadom again addressed Prophet Obinim but due to some strange circumstance, the sound was cut abruptly.
