Nana Akomea, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South Constituency, may soon be the next to appear in the Ghanaian Courts. It appears his cup is full this time. His problems may be numerous but in the meantime it is about his penchant for �character assassination�. He is fond of attacking personalities instead of debating issues of national importance anytime he features on radio or television programmes. Different views, has finally landed him in a legal tussle with an iron lady of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). She is by name Vivian Ankrah, who is the Greater Accra Regional Women�s Organizer of the NDC. Known in her party as the iron, she has vowed to take on Akomea, the former Minister of Information, and end his sheer arrogance once and for all, for dragging her image into the mud unjustly. Reacting to Nana Akomea in an interview with the Crystal Clear Lens last Saturday, she said it was a shock to her upon hearing the news. She said she would sue him in court for attacking her integrity, unless he withdraws his unfortunate remarks against her and apologize unreservedly. Nana Akomea was on Metro TV Good Morning Ghana show last Friday, when he made spurious allegations against her.Among was that she had allegedly taken over the contracts of the School Feeding Programme and awarded them to her cronies against all odds. He claimed he has documents to prove that indeed she has been awarding contracts to her favorites. The Regional Women�s Organizer did not take the statement kindly, describing it as baseless and misleading. According to her, it was calculated to tarnish her hard won reputation before her constituents. She said, �This is false allegation, I do not have a hand in the School Feeding Programme.� According to her, Akomea�s assertions were aimed at just destroying her name to score cheap political point before the residents of Okaikoi South. �I challenge him to come out with those documents or I will sue him,� she fumed. She said, �I will not blame Metro TV because they are part of the Fourth Estate of Realm of the republic and are expected to play a role of educating the general public on what is going on in the various localities. Akomea thought he could use the Good Morning Show on Metro TV as weapon to say ill things or intimidate people and score go free. He should not bring it to me. I was given the post of Regional Women�s Organizer based on my honesty and dedication to the NDC and I have contributed fully to the development of my area of work.He has stepped on a wrong stone. I will fight him with the last drop of my blood that runs through my veins.If he fails to provide the general public with evidence which says I have those contracts of school feeding program at Okaikoi South, you will definitely here from my lawyers.� She directed Akomea to check his fact at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, who is in charge, if he has any problem with the programme. She has, however, warned Akomea, the former Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment, to desist from making further uncomplimentary remarks about her personality at any platform including TV and radio programmes.
