NDC Has More To Offer - MP For Tempane

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tempane, Mr David Adakudugu, has entreated teeming supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain resolute because the party has more to offer in terms of development.

He advised them to avoid ethnocentrism and other divisive tendencies that would taint the good track record of the party in its development agenda and ultimately destroy the country's democratic credentials.

Addressing supporters of the party at Kugrago in the Tempane Constituency of the Upper East Region to account to the people his achievements since he was elected as MP, Mr Adakudugu expressed optimism that come November, the party's votes for both the parliamentary and presidential elections would increase by about 75 per cent.

He, however, stated that such an achievement required more efforts and resilience among the rank and file of the party.

He said he was confident of widening the gap between him and the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from about 4,000 votes in the last election to about 6,000 votes in this year's election.

Development

The MP, who was a District Chief Executive (DCE) for Garu-Tempane from 2009 to 2012, said he facilitated the connection of 35 communities to the national grid and supported 42 brilliant, needy students in the constituency with scholarships worth GH¢ 55,000.

He said he also secured 10 motorbikes for health centres within the constituency and drilled 41 boreholes in addition to many other social interventions.

The MP said he had also earmarked more projects, including the drilling of 20 additional boreholes, for communities without water.

He said he would also construct 10 culverts to link some communities that had been cut off from the rest of the constituency.

Comparing NDC/NPP records

"I, therefore, ask you to compare the eight years of the NPP during which only few communities had electricity and today under the NDC where more communities have access to electricity,"he stressed.

The Deputy Regional Women's Organiser of the party, Madam Grace Nkaw, entreated the members of the party to be vigilant at the various polling stations because elections were won or lost at polling stations.

The Regional Deputy Organiser and Director of Elections, Mr Haruna Issa, used the occasion to educate the supporters on the processes involved in replacing their voter ID cards and other electoral issues.

The Regional Director of Administration of the party, Mr Paul Danka, observed that the MP was "an agent of change and development because he thinks about generations in development."

He, therefore, urged party faithful to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity for the party to win convincingly in the November polls.

The Constituency Chairman , Alhaji Charles Issaka, also said as far as his constituency was concerned, the people were ready to forge ahead in unity because they had buried all their differences.

During an interaction with the Daily Graphic, some of the party members in the constituency said they were happy about the development and projects that had sprung up in the constituency but called for urgent steps to address youth unemployment  in the area.
