Hasten The Posting Of Graduate Nurses

A group of 600 graduate nurses from public and private universities has appealed to the government to act without further delay to get them posted to the health facilities.

A statement, signed by their spokesperson, Mr. Benson Amoako, said they were getting frustrated and disappointed at the seeming lack of urgency on the part of the government to engage them.

The registered nurses have been sitting at home over the past five years.

The statement said it should be a bother to everybody that professionally-trained nurses, who could otherwise be rendering vital nursing services at the teaching, regional and district hospitals should be made jobless.

It criticized the existing employment policy of the Health Ministry and said it was discriminatory against registered nurses from the universities.

The group therefore called for a review to facilitate their employment into the healthcare system.
