Nduom Punches Mills: "It's Not True NDC Started Founders Day

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, the Presidential Candidate for the Convention People Party (CPP) in the 2008 elections, has chastised President Atta Mills for trying to take credit for something he did not initiate. He expressed gross worry about the current situation where the government was taking undue credit for being the imitators of Founders Day, celebrated on September 21 in honour of Ghanas first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Setting the records straight, Dr. Nduom said it was not true that the sitting NDC government started the Founders Day celebration; stressing that the CPP were the original initiators of that memorable day. The Founders Day was brought into the country by the CPP during the Dr Nkrumah era. Even at that time, the day was declared as National Holiday, he said whilst speaking on the Platform, a political programme on Angel FM with Kwadwo Marfo as host. The former CPP Flagbearer descended heavily on the NDC government for the lackadaisical manner in which this years Foundation Day was organised saying, The organisation was not the best. Dr. Nduom said, The celebrations were like a play, noting that the CPP would have made it spectacular if they had been allowed if they had been allowed to organizer it. On his assessment of the Mills government, he said they have not initiated any significant thing to better the lives of the populace since assuming office nine months ago. The government has failed to create jobs, build schools or construct roads. Indeed the government has not started anything, he observed, noting that the government has also failed to act swiftly on projects started by the previous administration. On his future political ambitions, Dr. Nduom stated that he would surely contest the CPP presidential slot again in the 2012 polls. He added that he is currently getting his act together. He said the CPP was currently restructuring its various segments and was hopeful that the party would be a force to reckon with in the next elections. CPP will be formidable in 2012, he stressed.
