M&J Saga: From Obed Asamoah To Daily Graphic

I take very strong exception to some portions of the stories you carried on the above subject. There are portions where my name is included in the list of those who are alleged to have been given monies by officials or agents of Mabey and Johnson (M&J), a company which has been convicted of bribery and corruption by a British court in connection with contracts the company acquired in several countries including Ghana. The reports I have read of persons allegedly present in court mention some Ghanaian officials of government, past and present, as having been paid some amounts of money. That list does not include me. My name and that of other persons were mentioned as important persons whom the company thought their agent, Mr Baba Kamara, could influence on their behalf. There is no allegation that I had indeed been so influenced or that I had been given any money. The fact that even in relation to this aspect, the second of the above reports made by one Kofi Yeboah specifies only me out of all those whom the company thought could be influenced shows malice against me. I demand a conspicuous and profound apology for this malicious libel, failing which you can guess what will happen. A little more care is required of the caliber and circulation of your paper.
