The Foundation for the Future Computer Mission (FFCMI), a non-government organization, is instituting mobile ICT training programmes in some rural areas in the Upper East Region.
Under the programme, management of the NGO gets to the communities to educate the rural folk in ICT programmes as part of measures to complement government�s efforts at making every Ghanaian particularly the youth to become literate in Information Communication Training (ICT).
As part of the programme, 58 members of the Zorko community in the Bongo District who underwent two months training in ICT passed out at the weekend and were awarded certificates.
The District Chief Executive, Mr. Clement Akugre, in a speech read on his behalf, commended the NGO for the training and said it would help the graduates, especially the students.
Mr. Akugre said majority of people had failed to secure employment because of lack of knowledge in ICT and urged the graduates to continue to study ICT.
He expressed worry about the way some people, especially the youth, abused the use of ICT by getting themselves involved in cyber fraud popularly known as �Sakawa� and watching obscene pictures.
The Manager of FFCMI, Mr. Frank Anbuorofaa, said FFCMI had so far carried out mobile ICT training programmes in many places including the Zuarungu Senior High School and some communities in the Volta Region
Mr. Anbuorofaa said the NGO would continue to widen its net by reaching out to deprived areas such as Sirigu, Namo and Balungo in the region.
