Kumasi Eid Stampede: Wontumi Weeps Blames Devilish Dumsor

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako could not hold back his tears when he visited the Asawase Community Center in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region where 9 revelers met their untimely death.

Chairman Wontumi as popularly known in politics believes the stampede was caused by frequent unstable power supply in the metropolis which has been a burden on the indigenes.

“I learnt people attempted to rush out from the community center when the lights went off. So when will this Dumsor stop? This frequent light off is evil” he told Peacefmonline.com in an interview.

Among the deceased – six are females and three males while those injured are responding to treatment at the Manhyia hospital with one person in a critical condition.

Grief-stricken Wontumi however said that – measures will be put in place to ensure the incident never happens again.

He also consoled families who lost their loved ones – and assured his party’s support for the injured.
