MTN donates to orphanage

Telecommunications giants, MTN on Thursday donated items worth GHc 5,000 for the upkeep of orphans at the Good Shepherd Orphanage at Odupong-Ofankor near Kasoa in the Central Region. The items included quantities of rice, maize, cooking oil, milk, eggs, toiletries and used clothing. The donation formed part of the company�s customer service week celebration aimed at demonstrating its commitment to serving customers better. Mrs Jemima Kotei Walsh, Acting Customer Care Executive, who led a team of members from the Unit to present the items, noted that it was obligatory on society to ensure that children received the very best of support and care to become good citizens. Mrs Walsh said children were a precious gift from God upon whom the future of the country depended on, adding, that informed the initiative to use the celebration to donate towards their upkeep. �We have an opportunity to express our commitment to Ghana and to the well-being of our people through our Corporate Social Responsibility, which is gaining recognition among Ghanaians,� she said. Mrs Walsh pledged the company�s continued demonstration of leadership in the telecommunications market through the offer of innovative products and services tailored to meet the needs and expectations of subscribers. She said the company recognised the importance of customers in its development and assured of excellent customer service delivery to enable the company achieve its objectives. Bishop Kwaku Addei, Founder and Father of the Good Shepherd Orphanage thanked MTN for the donation. Mr Addei said the orphanage needed more assistance to be able to adequately maintain the children. The Good Shepherd Orphanage, which was established in 2004 currently, has 65 children who are receiving formal education.
