Tribal Politics, Unhealthy For Nations Progress Bishop

The Right Reverend Michael Bossman, Methodist Bishop of Koforidua, has asked the political parties and their supporters not to excite ethnic and religious sentiments in their desperation for power.

That, he warned, was unhealthy for the peace, unity and progress of the nation.

Addressing the third triennial diocesan conference of the Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary (SUWMA) in Effiduase near Koforidua, he said the “national interest should be paramount and must supersede the interest of any individual or a group of people”.

The Rt. Rev Bossman underlined the need for tolerance and a display of love for one another.

The SUWMA is an organization in the Methodist Church, which aims at promoting women’s empowerment through skills development alongside helping them to grow in their faith.

Additionally it has been involved in activities to aid young women to have self-belief and also engaged in charity.

“Witnessing to Christ, the Methodist identity and social impact, serving one another with love", was the theme chosen for the conference.

Bishop Bossman reminded all to accept to work together to “uphold our common humanity”.

He encouraged members of the SUWMA to reach out to more people with the gospel.

Ms. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Abuakwa North, advised women to have ample time for their families and to make sure that their children were aided to become God-fearing.

Ms. Elizabeth Kyei Kittoe, Connexional President of SUWMA, urged the Christian women to lead lives that would glorify God.
