Magistrate Court presided over by Mr. Korkor Owusu Achiaw has convicted three people including two juveniles for stealing metres belonging to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).

The three were arrested at Asokwa on November 12, last year when they tried to steal metre from a house at Asokwa.

The two juveniles are aged 14 and 16 years, while the third person, Suleiman Ali, is aged 20 years.

The three who pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing were found guilty by the court and sentenced accordingly.

While the 14-year old was given six month jail term, his two other accomplices were given two years each.

Presenting the facts of the case, Sergeant Michael Koole told the court that on November 12, 2015 at around 1am, the complainant in the case, a resident of Asokwa, heard unusual noise behind his house and decided to investigate it.

He said when he came out, the convicts were tampering with his metre and raised the alarm.

According to Sgt. Koole, the neighbours heard the call for assistance, came out and apprehended the convicts.

He said when they were searched, they found one metre on them and sent them to the Asokwa police station where they were charged with the offence.
