Baba's Schalke move not a mistake, says agent

The left-back's representative is happy with the player's career path

Kurt Okraku, the agent of new Schalke 04 recruit Baba Rahman, believes the youngster's decision to join Schalke 04 on loan was a "smart" move.

The 22-year-old completed a season-long transfer to the Bundesliga side from English giants Chelsea on Tuesday after struggling to hold down a regular first team spot at Stamford Bridge last season.

The Ghanaian moved to England from German club Augsburg last summer, having earlier been on the books of Greuther Furth for his first European adventure.

"Honestly, we have been smart," Okraku was quoted as saying by Joy Sports.

"From his time at Dreams FC to when he signed for Greuther Furth, lots of stellar clubs wanted to sign him but he went to Furth and made it there.

"From there, he could have opted for money from the Russians but he went to Augsburg.

"When Barcelona, Juventus, Atletico Madrid showed interest, we decided to go to London and we have made the decision again [with his latest move to Schalke].

"I think we have not made mistakes and Baba is happy. He has not lost one penny in terms of remuneration.

"His contract is intact and he is a happy boy and he is going to impress in Germany."

Baba played for Dreams and Asante Kotoko in Ghana before moving abroad.
