Black Maidens Call For Financial Support

Management Committee chairman of the National Women’s U-17 team, Augustine Asante, has revealed that financial difficulty is preventing the Black Maidens from residential camping ahead of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan.

The Maidens team have yet to kick-start preparations for the tournament as a result.

Asante admits the players might be rusty and could affect the team’s preparations ahead of the tournament.

“We are supposed to be in camp but because of the lack of money for the residential camp we are unable to camp the girls. I will meet the minister and within the week we can start camping,” he told Ultimate FM.

“Definitely, it will have some effect on the players because for the past two or three months they have been at home.

“Some of them are playing in the league anyway, but I know the capabilities of a coach. Even after having a short time [with the team], he will be able to prepare the team very well for the tournament,” he added.

The Tournament gets underway on 30th September in Jordan.
