GFA Is Broke GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has disclosed that his outfit is broke and that the FA do not have money to run all the activities of the various national teams since it is the duty of government to fund them.

According to him, the various national teams is the property of the government and the GFA expects the Sports Ministry to fund all activities since it is their responsibility.

“We don’t have money. Since the national teams is the property of government we are expecting the Sports Ministry to bring money so the teams can go for training.

“The Under -17 and Under-20 women’s teams will be going to the World Cup so they had a meeting with the Minister last Tuesday and according to him he is searching for money for them to go for their camping because the World Cup is just this October and November. By now the teams should have been in camp preparing for the tournament, but if he (Nii Lantey Vanderpuye) says there is no money, we have to wait till he gets money to camp the teams,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

The FA President further stated that it is the Minister who would have to approve the budget before they can take the teams to camp.

Touching on whether there is a rift between the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry, the FA President said they have never complained or said anything disparaging unlike the Minister who keeps ranting on Radio.

". . You have to ask him whether there is a problem and why he can't sit down with the GFA and discuss issues rather than always talking on radio. If you ask him and he answers then you come and tell me," he said.

He added that it is the responsibilty of the Ministry of Sports to fund the National teams as such if there is no money the FA have to be made aware.
