Michael Osei Needs Support C.K Akunnor

Former captain of the Black Stars, C.K Akunnor, has called for support for interim coach of Kotoko, Michael Osei, as he attempts to challenge for the league title.

Michael Osei returned the Porcupine Warriors to winning ways on Sunday after defeating Dreams FC by a lone goal from the spot converted by Amos Frimpong, but supporters believe he does not possess the wherewithal to build a formidable front to challenge for future competitions.

Michael Osei took over from David Duncan after falling out with current management led by former player, Opoku Nti.

He also assisted current Under 20 coach, Mas Ud Didi Dramani, during his tenure with the club, but fans believe he still needs more time to steer the affairs of a big club like Kotoko.

But speaking after their defeat against Kotoko, the former Wolfsburg winger pleaded for support from both management and fans to help him Michael [Osei] succeed in his first season in charge.

“The coaching job is not as easy you may think it is. We all have setbacks. We only need encouragement and support to flourish,” he indicated.

Akunnor, who suffered similar challenges in charge of Hearts of Oak after losing three straight matches, said incessant criticisms on Michael Osei will not only make him lose concentration, but can hurt the prospects of Kotoko after so much investments.

“You will kill him if you criticise him everytime; one thing I want to say is to accept him as one of their own and allow him to work with his conscience.”

The Porcupine Warriors will be facing a daunting task as they travel to Dansoman to battle Liberty Professionals while Dreams FC will return home to welcome defending champions, AshGold.
