The Ghana FA Cup champions saw their continental adventure brought to an end on Tuesday following a reversal in Algeria.

Medeama are out of the Caf Confederation Cup after a 1-0 away defeat to MO Bejaia on Tuesday.

Morgan Betorangal’s strike in the last group stage encounter at the Unite Maghrebine Stadium put the Algerians through to the semi-final, joining group winners TP Mazembe of DR Congo.

Medeama coach Prince Owusu made a single change to the starting XI that accounted for Mazembe in the preceding game, with Paul Aidoo taking the place of Daniel Amoah.

Three points ahead of their North African counterparts before the clash, the Ghanaians only needed a point to secure a ticket to the next round.

Bejaia, on the other hand, had to win at all cost to progress, a necessity which was evident in their attack-minded set-up throughout the clash, mounted by the likes of Morgan Betorangal, KamilYesli and Mohamed Athmani.

Following a largely boring first half, which had the home side on top nonetheless, Bejaia broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Morgan Betorangal found himself unmarked outside the box, before shooting from close range to beat goalkeeper Daniel Agyei.

Owusu then introduced Bismarck Oppong and Emmanuel Agyemang, but the new additionscould do little as referee Maguette Ndiaye whistled to bring proceedings to an end.
