Prof. Cephas Omenyo Elected New Moderator of Presby Church of Ghana

Reverend Professor Cephas Narh Omenyo, the Provost of the College of Education, University of Ghana, has been today elected the new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presby Church.

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana at its 16th General Assembly at the Ramseyer Training Center, Abetifi-Kwahu on has elected a new Moderator to steer the affairs of the Church for the next 5 years.

Rev. Prof. Cephas Narh Omenyo replaces Rev. Prof Emmanuel Martey after 5 years of service.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Presby Church of Ghana, Rev George Larbi who spoke in an interview with Peace FM News, he said after the nomiations, Rev Cephas Narh Omenyo secured 116 votes , while Rev Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante of the Trinity Theological Seminary had 60 votes and Rev Herbert Anim-Oppong of the North America Presbytery in the United States also secured 27 votes.

"Per the guidelines of the Church, the three had to be voted on, but Rev Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante and Rev Herbert Anim Oppong stepped down for Prof. Cephas Omenyo  to contest alone," he noted.

Prof Cephas Narh Omenyo secured 207 ‘Yes’ votes with only 7 ‘No’ votes.

Rev. Prof. Cephas Narh Omenyo is currently the Provost of the College of Education, University of Ghana.

He is a Professor in the Department for the Study of Religions with extensive experience in teaching, research and administration.
