2 Die In Awutu Breku Crash

Two persons are feared dead and 14 others injured when the Sprinter Mercedes Benz bus with which they were traveling collided with a tipper truck between Awutu Breku and Gomoa Akoti in the Central Region.

The bodies of the two – a female and a male – who died on the spot, have been deposited at the Winneba Truma Hospital for autopsy, DAILY GUIDE gathered.

Four of the 14 injured passengers were said to be in coma as at the time of filing this report.

The bus, with registration number AS 2833-12 from Awutu Breku reportedly collided with the tipper truck registered GX 9475-14 on the main Kasoa-Cape Coast Road.

The Awutu Breku District Police Commander, ASP Samuel Shedrack Amfo, confirmed the crash to journalists.

He indicated that about 4am on Wednesday, police had information that there was a fatal accident between Awutu Breku and Gomoa Akoti, closer to a school along the road called Wintil Secondary School.

ASP Amfo stated that the truck was heading to Akoti to cart sand while the Sprinter was heading towards Accra with some passengers who had gone to celebrate the Senya Akomasi Festival when the vehicles crashed.

The commander hinted that the Benz driver failed to stop in an attempt to overtake some vehicles ahead of him, leading to the accident.
