Our Flagbearer Is Totally Sleeping PNC Executives

Some executives of the People’s National Convention (PNC) have described the party’s flag bearer, Dr Edward Mahama as “inactive”.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of PNC, Bala Maekanka, in an interview said Dr. Edward Mahama is always glued to his personal business than the party’s, a situation he describes as very worrying.

“I think our flagbearer is sleeping, he is totally sleeping. When you look at the terrain, absolutely nothing is happening. He is the flag bearer and the leader of the party, but seriously we in the Greater Accra Region have been quiet for almost two months because we don’t even have a manifesto to campaign on and then we don’t even have logistics.

“You claim to be the leader and flag bearer and you don’t even have pick-up for yourself,” he stated.

According to Mr. Bala Maekanka, executives are unhappy with the flag bearer for tweeting earlier that he was ready to announce his running mate ahead of the December polls “when indeed nothing shows he is ready for this year’s elections”.

He indicated that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) met at the PNC headquarters but could not settle on any of the shortlisted persons.

Mr. Maekanka, stressed that the NEC is not concerned about announcing the vice presidential candidate, but rather want the PNC to be more vibrant to compete with NPP and NDC.

Ahead of the polls in December, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remain the only traditionally prominent political parties to have named their running mates.
