The Nyansafuo In NPP Should Tell Nana Addo NHIS Is Not Collapsing

Before now, and within a space of three years, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is blind to the realities unfolding before him, at the least opportunity, will jibe the government for collapsing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Available statistics from the National Health Insurance Authourity (NHIA) and the World Bank, paints a picture of a successful scheme, with many African countries, come here to study.

The utilization of healthcare service on the account of the NHIS, has significantly increased from 596,000 in 2005 to 27.4 million in 2013, this is according to the managers of the scheme.

The president, John Dramani Mahama, has always admitted that, they are challenges, despite the success chalked in many facets of the economy.

The serial incidents of running down the scheme and declaring it moribund, on the part of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, must not be allowed to recur.

The embarrassment is becoming too much, and he does not seems to bother, how it is damaging his image in the eyes of right-thinking Ghanaians.

All those around Nana Addo, who need to keep him well informed about the programme, must open regular channels of interaction with him to keep him up to date at all times, so that, he can in turn, feed the public with timely, honest and objective information.

But Nana Addo, in the view of The Herald, still has an opportunity to redeem himself, before the December 7 polls.

This, he can do, by seeking information, not only from the internet and the hangers on, who have consistently fed him wrong information, but by talking and seeking the right information from the mangers of the scheme, which by far, is one of the best in the world.

We urge him to begin to cut down on his shameful comments and educate himself well, before always publicly embarrassing himself.

Does Nana Addo, expect to derive any benefit through these negative outbursts, which may, to all intents, be emotional and outright lies, just to attract undeserved votes?

Politics is also about the truth, it also to genuinely serve the interest of the public, so the wise men and women around him, should remind him that, the scheme is not collapsing.
